The art of Debra Blore

“Lupines on the Fence Line”        oil on canvas, 11x14”

I don’t know anyone who doesn’t love Lupines. There are certain fields where I have to come to a complete stop when they are in bloom. At one such field, I stopped, asked the owner if I could paint in his field, and obtained permission. Not only did he allow me to paint, but he gave me seeds to start my own bed at home.

I began this piece with the intention of painting these spires of violet realistically, however I found it was best to let the paint flow more freely, just as these summer friends grow.

This painting was selected to hang in the Congressional Office of NH Congressman Paul Hodes.

"Tucker’s Tavern”        oil on panel, 11x14”

Tucker’s Tavern was the heart of Peterborough, New Hampshire social life for many decades. The tavern housed hotel accommodations and a fine dinning room known to both locals and distant visitors. Long after automobiles were in common use, Hansom cabs continued to pick up visitors at the Peterborough train depot, bringing them to Tucker’s Tavern in the style of yesteryear.

The Tavern was torn down in the mid-1960’s to make way for the building that today houses the Ocean National Bank.

I've always envied the view enjoyed by these chickens.  They seem to take for granted the real estate few of us could afford to purchase.  Besides enjoying the scenery while painting this agricultural view of Southwest New Hampshire's Mount Monadnock, each day my comrades in the field sent me home with fresh eggs for dinner.

This painting was selected to hang in the Congressional Office of Congressman Paul Hodes.
