The art of Debra Blore

While my studios are rarely open to the public, with advanced notice I am willing to give short tours both in Aberfoyle, Stirlingshire, Scotland and Peterborough, New Hampshire, USA.

Some of my art is shown on  these pages, however I have an ever-changing inventory of both original artwork and prints.

As my husband, the writer Dan Blore, and I travel between studios thousands of miles apart, it is easiest to reach me via e-mail at,  DebraBlore@gmail.com

"Art Cabin, MacDowell Colony, Peterborough, NH"    oil on canvas, 11"x14"

While art comes from many places, primarily the soul, the MacDowell Colony in Peterborough, NH, holds a nearly sacred place in the hearts of artists worldwide. For over 100 years, artists have come to the Colony to quietly create symphonies, paintings, novels, plays, video art and more, connecting quietly with their own souls before sharing their gifts with the public.

The Colony maintains their privacy, only opening the doors on rare occasions. I have been able to visit often enough to paint this sweet cabin, home to many artists for their stays. I hope the painting evokes the mystery, the peace I feel when I walk those hallowed grounds.  After all, how great symphonies are composed, how plays and novels are written, how paintings are created, is a mystery to us all.  This cabin is one of the originals, the painting produced by using photos from the 1930's and enhanced by several trips to the site.

This painting was selected to hang is the Congressional Office of Congressman Paul Hodes.

"What art offers is space - a certain breathing room for the spirit."

John Updike
